PROFILE OF BOB HINDLE
Mr Bob Hindle is a past President and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) - Africa. Bob is a ‘big picture’ analyst, who has been involved in and with construction for the past 50 years. He spent:
· 30 years in contracting – from apprentice Joiner to MD of companies;
· 15 years as full time academic at UCT – (Attempting to discover why the industry was not ‘developing’ as fast as other industries), and
· 10 years as a construction business development consultant - businessman and part-time academic.
His current roles include:
· Director in four Organisations;
· Academic and researcher – (more than 60 publications);
· Mentor and advisor, and
· Chairperson of the ‘Construction Management Development Committee’ – within the SACPCMP.
He says that he has been called many names by his colleagues and critics, over the years - but the one he is most proud of is, being termed – “A construction industry activist”.
